Strawberry tiramisu is a fresh and fruity, family-friendly take on the classic Italian dessert. This version has a double doze of fruit, is a little lighter but super easy and so delicious.

When I first got the idea to make strawberry tiramisu, I did a fair bit of thinking about how to get it just as I wanted. You see, just a layer of strawberries wasn't quite going to be strawberry-ish enough for me.
Then I figured out a plan that was both effective and easy.
However it's always the time you think something is super simple when you get tripped up at every turn. Or at least it seems that way for me.
First, the store I usually go to didn't have my preferred brand of mascarpone or ladyfinger cookies. It didn't worry me so much, as there's another supermarket not too far away, so I tried there the next day.
Got the mascarpone, but still no cookies.
I tried another store nearby, but still no luck. So I resorted to online (which I maybe should have done in the first place). Then the order said it would come the next day but it didn't, it was late the next again.
However at least when they arrived, they were all intact, and I now had everything so things were looking up.
Thankfully, the one thing I had no problem finding was Florida strawberries. If you can't find them yourself, then just ask your grocer to get hold of them. We're right in the midst of their season, which runs from December to April and they're perfect for no bake desserts like this tiramisu.
Don't get me wrong, I love baked strawberry desserts too like strawberry rhubarb crisp and strawberry bundt cake, but I love the relative simplicity of no bake desserts. Plus, ones like this are so easy to scale up on down.
Does strawberry tiramisu have alcohol in it?
I'm sure you could make this with some kind of liqueur, but I came up with a way to get lots of great strawberry flavor right in the cookies, without the need for any.
Basically, you make a kind of strawberry syrup to soak the cookies in. True, it takes slightly longer, but works so well.
As a result, it means my kids get to enjoy this delicious dessert, unlike a traditional tiramisu. And while it's still a bit of a treat, it's a little healthier than you might think.
You definitely need mascarpone for a true tiramisu flavor, in my mind, but I used it blended with Greek yogurt to be that bit lighter. The natural sweetness of the strawberries means you don’t need much sugar either.
Steps to make strawberry tiramisu
Assuming you don't have my delays, the good news is this dessert is really easy to put together. All you do is:
- Simmer together some strawberries with orange juice and a little sugar.
- Mash the mixture, allow to cool then strain.
- Dip the ladyfingers into this strawberry juice/syrup and put a layer in the bottom of your dish.
- Mix the mascarpone with a little sugar, mix in the yogurt then put half over the cookies, followed by a layer of strawberry slices.
- Top with another layer of strawberry-dipped cookies and mascarpone mixture then chill.
This strawberry tiramisu has everything you'd expect in a good no bake dessert - not too many ingredients, easy to make, and full of delicious flavor. It was an instant hit in our house - make sure you test it in yours.

Strawberry tiramisu
Ingredients
For the strawberry syrup/juice
- 6 oz strawberries 170g
- 2 tablespoon orange juice
- 1 tablespoon sugar
For rest of tiramisu
- 12 ladyfinger cookies
- 4 oz mascarpone 110g, ½ a standard tub
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- ½ cup Greek yogurt 110g
- 3 oz strawberries 85g, plus approx 1 more to decorate top
Instructions
For the strawberry syrup/juice (ahead of time)
- Roughly chop the strawberries and put in a small pan with the orange juice and sugar. Bring to a simmer, stirring now and then. Simmer for a couple of minutes and mash the strawberries to a pulp. Set aside to cool then strain the mixture. You can make this ahead and store in a cool place, sealed.
To make up tiramisu (at least 4 hours before needed/night before)
- Put the strawberry syrup/juice in a small bowl/dish that is wide enough to fit a ladyfinger cookie in it, but not much bigger. Dip 6 ladyfinger cookies, one at a time, into the strawberry liquid. Turn each so it is coated but don't leave to soak. Put them next to each other in a dish that's big enough to hold a layer of 6 cookies, but not much bigger, and around 2in/5cm deep.
- Mix together the mascarpone and sugar so it's smooth and glossy. Mix in the yogurt and combine well. If you like, you can whisk it to be a bit lighter but it will taste good either way.
- Put half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of ladyfinger cookies. It's best to dot it on then spread to join together as otherwise you may break up the cookies.
- Slice the strawberries relatively thinly and lay a layer over the mascarpone mixture. Dip the remaining cookies in the strawberry syrup and lay over the strawberries and top with the rest of the mascarpone mixture. Cover and chill for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
- Decorate with a few slices of strawberry, if you like, as you serve.

It's so annoying when you can't find something when you need it, right? But all was good in the end, and so glad I found everything to make this delicious desert!

What a great idea! I wasn't sure what kind of syrup you would use with this when I heard tiramisu but now I'm definitely making this for my next family function. (My son won't eat traditional tiramisu but would go crazy for this one.)

Thanks Denise, it's not a strong flavor in the cookies, but it all works so well together. Hope everyone enjoys.

I love strawberry tiramisu! I didn't think to use juice to my lady fingers in the one I made. I'll have to try that next time. Yum!
Caroline's Cooking
Yummy indeed! The strawberry juice/syrup flavor isn't strong but it's just enough, and the whole thing was such an instant hit. Enjoy!
