In reply to Sarah Gee. I may be biased, but Scottish berries are some of the best, so I'm sure they'll be great for this! I also didn't come across this during my school-age time in Germany, it's one I found later, but definitely one to get to know.

Many thanks, Caroline. This sounds delightful. I live in Orkney and our summer berries are ripe and luscious right now. I went to [boarding] school in northern Germany years back, but had never heard of this dessert. I wish I had learned about it earlier!
