So the fish with the silvery skin is marinated herring - much as I have thought about trying to make it myself, it's a bit of a long process and so (for now at least) it's from the store :) It's another classic addition to a Swedish spread, as well as enjoyed in other neighboring countries.

I make a cucumber salad similar to these. These sound really good going to give these a try next time.
