It must have been great to live there and shop in that wonderful market. On pumpkin, in fairness it was more in nearby Modena and Parma that we had pumpkin dishes but funny to hear the view from Bolognese locals. Either way, I definitely think it's worth appreciating!

I learned to love Lambrusco but the first time l went to a restaurant with a lovely bottle of red wine (not Lambrusco. Lol.) and they obligingly put it in the freezer to chill it faster for me, it WAS a bit of a culture shock.

Had to laugh that you shared two pumpkin recipes, l lived nearly 20 years in Bologna and according to my Bolognese friends, pumpkin is pig food and not fit for humans. Luckily they know better in Ferrara where cappellacci with a pumpkin stuffing have been the local specialty since the 15th century. I also love pumpkin risotto and make it a few times each winter, if l cook a roast, l always roast extra pumpkin so l can make this it. It's like a little bowl of sunshine.
