So as I mention, you can make this a couple days ahead and store in the fridge, then just re-heat on a low heat, gently. If you are planning on only making it ahead, rather than just re-heating leftovers then you might want to err even more on the safe side and so only make the soup up to where you would add the cream, then store the broth and the asparagus pieces separately, so the pieces of asparagus don't get broken up when you stir the soup as you re-heat.
Then to re-heat and finish the soup, gently re-heat the main broth, and then add the cream once it is warm, and separately warm the asparagus very briefly in the microwave or steam them a minute (or you could even not re-heat and just let them warm in the broth when serving).
