The dough here doesn't puff into layers as much as puff pastry tends to, it's only a little separation, so I'd be worried puff pastry would separate or squeeze out the filling a bit too much, so I'd say either roll the puff pastry out thinner or else if you want to use ready made, shortcrust is maybe better.
