So yes you can steam mussels and store them in the fridge for up to 2 days - just make sure they are covered and I'd suggest you maybe put some damp kitchen paper or cling wrap/film directly over the mussels before sealing the container they are in to try to help avoid the top layer drying out.

I have an 10 oz. package of frozen mussels. They don’t come in the shell and they are already cooked. Could I thaw them out, put them in a glass casserole dish, and top them with your crumb mix, then bake them?

I eat mussels often, living in Penn Cove Washinton, and have always steamed them in a sauce. But this may be my new favorite mussel recipe!

In reply to Beverly Mae. I'd have thought they should work fine. Are they already cooked? If so, then just make sure they defrost then continue from where you make the crumb topping and bake etc. If not cooked, then steam first.
